Wendy Moen

Wendy Moen

Pastor

Greetings, I’m Pastor Wendy Moen. Welcome to Covenant Lutheran Church in Stoughton, WI.
In August 2021 I joined Covenant as interim pastor. I grew up near Decorah, Iowa with my parents, brother, and numerous farm animals. After high school I attended the University of Iowa and graduated in 1992 with a Bachelor of Social Work and a B.A. of Psychology. After seven years of social work with various populations in various settings, including a year of accompaniment with the people of Nicaragua, I began seminary studies at The Lutheran Theological Seminary at Philadelphia. My concentration areas at seminary were urban ministry and Latino studies and I graduated with a Master of Divinity in 2003.
My first call was to First Trinity Lutheran Church, DC in 2003. In February of 2017, I accepted a call to Grace Lutheran Church, also in DC and in September of 2020 I was appointed interim pastor at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Alexandria, VA. Each parish was a unique context for ministry, Covenant is, too! I feel called to tell people about Jesus and to help God be real and present in the world. I seek to accompany, encourage, and empower everyone by the power of the gospel, with the help of the Holy Spirit, to know God more deeply.
I am the proud mother of one wonderful son, Jonathan, who began studies at UW – Madison this fall. Jesus said,
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another.” John 13: 34
Love. Love is our mandate.

Kathy Andrusz

Kathy Andrusz

Confirmation Coordinator

Kathy Andrusz has been a member of Covenant since moving to Stoughton in 2005. She currently serves as our Confirmation coordinator, a role which challenges and engages her soul, building relationship with youth as they work out the complex intersection of spiritual and earthly life in the safe spaces our church provides. She also helps out with Education, Social Action and Worship and Music teams.

Kathy has worked full-time in public health since the 1990s, and is currently in her 20th year of service at Public Health Madison Dane County running a harm reduction program for people who use drugs. Kathy’s husband and son, John and Jude Surrell are also members of Covenant who can most often be found in the sound booth. Kathy loves to run along the Yahara River, read non-fiction and graphic novels, and appreciates nothing more than a mid-century monster movie on a Saturday night. Her family also includes Ruby, an aging blue-nose pitt bull.

Hello! I am Amanda Burian, the office manager at Covenant Lutheran Church. I bring many years of office experience and a huge helping of enthusiasm with me to this role. My favorite way to pass the days include spending time with my family and anything that helps to make this world a better place. I’ve never truly believed in ‘impossible’. I long for a safe community that loves, welcomes and empowers all who choose to join. I find that to be the environment at Covenant Lutheran. I am so grateful and feel absolutely blessed to be here!

Thank you for welcoming me & please reach out if there is any way I can be of service!

Karla Cornell-Wevley

Karla Cornell-Wevley

Christian Education Coordinator

Welcome, I’m Karla Cornell-Wevley the Education Coordinator at Covenant Lutheran Church. I grew up on our family farm in western Wisconsin and attended UW-LaCrosse. I came to Stoughton in 1990 to start my first teaching job at the middle school. I worked with eighth graders in several positions in Stoughton until my retirement from teaching in June of 2022.
I became a member of Covenant in 2001 with my husband Eric. Our children Logan, Eve, and Tanner have grown-up as a part of the church. Over the years, I have volunteered in the Sunday School program and was a Confirmation guide. After my retirement from teaching, I looked for another challenge and a different setting to use my skills. I look forward to working with younger children and their families. I want the familes in the church to see Covenant as important part of their children’s lives and a place where they all feel seen, heard, and cared for.
