Covenant Lutheran Church seeks Pianist and/or Organist

Pianist and/or Organist: Covenant Lutheran Church (ELCA), Stoughton, WI, seeks organist/pianist to lead liturgy and congregational song at weekly Sunday service and accompany adult vocal choir rehearsals on Sunday mornings. Responsibilities include playing for midweek Lenten worship and additional services during Holy Week and at Christmas. Optional weddings and funerals available for additional pay.

The ideal candidate is an organized and collaborative musician who is proficient in piano and/or organ, comfortable in a wide variety of musical styles, and experienced in leading congregational singing. Familiarity with Lutheran liturgy is desirable but not essential. Other musical and/or artistic talents are a plus.

Attendance at monthly Worship and Music Team meetings is required. A successful candidate must be willing to collaborate with pastor, staff, and volunteer musicians. Our focus is to make services inviting, clear, and unifying, with the understanding that church music is an offering to support and enhance worship, not a performance.

Additional responsibilities in the areas of children's music ministry, music coordination, and/or arts coordination could be possible, depending on the candidate's skills, interest, and experience.

Compensation:
Sundays - $82.12/service
Midweek Service (Lent/Holy Week, Advent, etc.) - $79.61/service
Vocal Choir Accompaniment - $161.71/month

To apply, send resume and cover letter to hr@covluth.org.

Position will remain open until filled; We are most hopeful to receive resumes before July 30, 2023.

The Racial Equity Team at Covenant Lutheran encourages the whole congregation to examine our role in the problem of systemic racism and work to be part of the solution. The team is guided by this vision statement:

“We want Covenant to be a church that is unafraid to confront hard questions about justice, equality, power, and privilege from the perspective of a grace-filled God. We want Covenant to help people understand, question, and challenge the social structure that, in ways benign and malignant, visible and invisible, benefits some and disadvantages others. We want to explore how God's vision for our lives and our church calls us to challenge injustice within ourselves and culture.”
